Illegal alien from Morocco gets 30 years for Capitol bombing plot

We told you about him before, here and here, but buried in the midst of more awful news from North Africa, Islamist and Alexandria, VA resident Amine El Khalifi was sentenced on Friday to 30 years in federal prison.  We are told his deepening commitment to Islamic teaching came after an arrest in 2007.

So, here is the big question.  He was involved in some incident in a nightclub in 2007 that resulted in an arrest and a conviction, and no one caught the fact that he was an illegal alien and consequently should have been deported to Africa at that time?

How many more Amine El Khalifis are living in America?

From Reuters:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A federal judge sentenced a Moroccan man to 30 years in prison on Friday after he was caught in an FBI sting operation planning to detonate a bomb in the U.S. Capitol building, prosecutors said.

Amine El Khalifi, 29, an illegal immigrant who lived in Alexandria, Virginia, was sentenced after pleading guilty in June to attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction.

El Khalifi was raised in Casablanca, his lawyers said in court papers. He came to the United States in 1999 on a tourist visa with his father and “became enamored with America,” staying behind with an uncle as his father returned to Morocco.

He moved to the Washington area in 2000 and held a variety of jobs, including retail clothing sales in the upscale Georgetown neighborhood, his lawyers said. A nightclub argument in 2007 resulted in his conviction on misdemeanor criminal charges, an incident that led to a deepening commitment to his religion, Islam, they said.  [What!  Deepening commitment to follow the teaching of the Koran and kill some infidels?—ed]

So now we get to pay for his care for 30 years, and then what?  The article doesn’t say he will be deported on his release from the big house!
