If Mary Kane is elected to head MDGOP, then the ruling class leadership will continue

Just when you thought that the MDGOP might be “getting it,” Mary Kane, Bob Ehrlich’s running mate in the Maryland gubernatorial contest, is throwing her hat in the ring to head the party when it convenes next month in Annapolis.

From the Washington Post:

A well-known Maryland Republican has emerged as a leading candidate to take over the reins of the state party: Mary Kane.

Kane, who was the running mate this year of former governor Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. (R), confirmed in an interview Monday afternoon that she is interested in the party chairmanship, which will be filled next month.

“I believe in the Republican Party, and I don’t think we should give up on this,” said Kane, a former Maryland secretary of state whose husband, John Kane, was chairman of the Maryland Republican Party when Ehrlich was governor.

What! doesn’t writer John Wagner google?   Only last week the Baltimore Sun reported that Ms. Kane said the MDGOP would be out of the governor’s mansion for 40 years!

“I don’t know if we are going to see another [Republican governor of Maryland] in the next 40 years,” said Mary Kane, his running mate. “It is a shame.”

Do Maryland Republicans want someone with that attitude to head the party?  The kingmakers (or should I say ruling class) at the WaPo and the Baltimore Sun would love it though.  Or, more accurately all those who want to see the party in the wilderness for the next 40 years.

I see more on this story at Monoblogue, here.

I’ve heard many names of potential candidates to head the MDGOP, but I won’t name anyone until I’ve heard it directly from the candidate.  Maybe, my “hurrah” was premature.
