Islamist! Islamist! Islamist! (there I said it!)

Today, writing at NRO, Karen Lugo (hat tip: Paul) alerts us to more in the on-going battle of ideas on the subject of freedom of speech.  Islamists want to stop free thinkers from using the word “Islamist!”

And, look who is leading the world community to silence critics of Jihad and Shariah law—-that supposedly great example of a moderate Muslim country—Turkey!

Here is Lugo (emphasis mine):

In just the latest episode of censorship in the prophet’s name, Muslim activist groups now want reporters to stop using the word “Islamist.” “Islamist” is an important and useful word — it identifies the politically motivated Muslims who are intent on injecting sharia into Western law and culture, and distinguishes them from other followers of Islam.

There is no question that sharia is anathema to the American sense of individual liberty and civil rights, so actual Islamists must hide behind Muslims who have no interest in bringing Muslim Brotherhood–style regulations to America. Uninhibited discussions of the conditions in Western Europe’s sharia enclaves evoke instant rejection of similar arrangements here in the U.S. Thus, the conversation must be stripped of frank terms such as “Islamist.” Those who seek to promote sharia are anxious to bypass debate on the matter on the way to cultural domination.

Don’t we know some Marylanders who went on an indoctrination trip to Turkey?

Islamists certainly do not want the American public to consider the current international campaign to make inspection of Islamism a crime. In January, journalists and journalism students were invited to a conference in Istanbul where Turkish deputy undersecretary Ibrahim Kalin announced that the Turkish government “has been working on projects to have Islamophobia recognized as a crime against humanity.” Prime Minister Erdogan committed the Turkish government to “immediately start working on legislation against blasphemous and offensive remarks” and bragged that “Turkey could be a leading example for the rest of the world on this.”

Update:   Richard Falknor at Blue Ridge Forum reports that there are lists of elected officials who went on Gulen sponsored trips to Turkey, here is one such list. I don’t know if the journalists were also sponsored by the Gulen movement.

We need to be able to freely use  the word “Islamist” so as not to lump all Muslims in with the Shariah law agitators like say, Grover Norquist (who says you are all a bunch of “Islamophobes” if you question shariah law!):

Quietly working within the US government to silence us:

So far, America’s institutions have chosen to defer the moment that the culture must be defined and defended. Islamists have stepped into the void. For instance, at Islamists’ behest, the DOJ, FBI, and Department of Homeland Security have purged from counterterrorism manuals references to the connection between Islamic radicalism and jihadist terror. Many city- and county-level agencies have followed suit. If our law-enforcement agencies cannot stand up to the threat, how can we expect the media to?

More than most, Tea Partiers and Liberty-minded advocates and LOL! Tea Party bloggers know the importance of free speech because without this Constitutionally protected pressure release valve the US would turn to chaos and rioting and rebellion to solve the greatest threat we have faced since the founding.  Hint to Obama and pals—silence Americans at your great peril.

Lugo concludes:

Caving to demands for speech codes dangerously skews political arguments and makes the voices of the censors only louder. When one side of the argument is censored or restrained, conspirators are allowed to perpetrate a fraud on the majority. This is exactly how Islamists have been selling Americans on the idea that sharia is soft, socially just, and not a threat to the American way. By maligning the use of the word “Islamist” and thereby suppressing inspection of Islamism, sharia advocates hope to dismiss as racist any who would challenge them.   [They have free speech too—do not cower when they call you a racist—ed]

It is not too late to frame the debate and press American Muslim leaders for honesty. Unapologetic and public conversations are key to defending American constitutional standards, and they demand clarity of terminology.

No one explains this better than Pamela Geller.   Coincidentally, just last evening  Brad Botwin of Help Save Maryland sent around a clip of a CNN interview with Pamela Geller from a few months ago on this very subject.   Watch it!

  1. No surprise on the Muslim activists’ continued attempt to try to control what words people use – like ISLAMIST. It’s so important for them to hide and lie about the revolting and disgusting tenets of their 7th century barbaric ‘culture’, ie., where husbands routinely rape their wives, and/or molest their child-brides, and conduct female genital mutilation. Shhhh !…….mustn’t say ISLAMIST too often, lest people get too curious and take steps that might ‘ruin’ their sub-human – PERVERTED ways of life ! Well, to all those who would try to suppress the truth – including that deviant Norquist, read my lips: Get the hell out of our country. You will NEVER – EVER – EVER belong here – because sharia “UN”-law is totally against our Constitution. And if anyone thinks all that is ‘blasphemous or offensive’ ? Then it’s a GOOD DAY IN AMERICA, and GOD BLESS anyone in our country who stands up against this CRAP.

    • InGodWeTrust: Many of them are as hate filled as some of us. We are of the same spritual lineage. They respect the Scriptures. Read in the Quran Surah 19 about Mary, the speak of Jesus and the miricle birth that God created, they call God Allah as they have different words for Biblical characters, there is a language difference….

The Muslim people just don’t like the Pagan additions that the ROman Church added to the teachings of Jesus. They think that praying to Jesus is not correct because there is only one God, even Jesus said this. Jesus often called himself the “son of man”. He told Mary in the garden after the reserection to go to his brothers and tell them that he was,..” ascending to my father and their father my God and their God.” I don’t know what that means to you but I think I would trust the words of Jesus more than all the Popes put together hands down….

Anyway, I do not want to start an argument, simply share something that I have researched and learned through years of study. You see if they have no cold war to fleece us for they have to invent something else. What if we put away our differences and found our similarities and deprived the children of lies their means to keep us divided????? That would be so very good and I think God would rather find peace between us so that we could be strong and fight the real enemy.

      God Bless….

  2. “Phobe” is a word attached to anyone who disagrees with the PC police.

  3. Just read about Ishmael in my American Patriot’s Bible, which then has a page about the Barbary pirates, who were instrumental in a need for birthing the U.S. Navy. Having a background in history equips one for battle against the current insanity.

  4. Interestingly the North Carolina Gazette, 1768, referenced the Quran in making a patriotic plea to the people. Surah 19 yells the story of Maryum (Mary) and Jesus and the miricle birth that God created. Some say Allah is a Moon God because the adherents use the moon cycles aas shabbot, so do the Jews, the ancient Hebrews and early Chrisitans. It was Rome that subverted Jesus’ teachings and created a twisted interpretation of the truth.

In fact Jesus said not one wit of the law would change till all these things come to pass. Haven’t seen reference to a new heaven and new earth happening. He said he did not come to change the law but to fulfill it. He did fulfill the law of sacrifice. Jesus taught us that justice was better than sacrifice even as the law states in the many allusion to just behavior, not respecting an individuals title or place in society but evaluating the individual for the character they possess.

Nope, those who would use the Muslims against the Christians would have us at each other throats so they can subvert the law, the Constitution. Most of the so called Tea Party people do not know what the Constitution means any more than the politicians who subvert it. Its not their fault. They do know something is wrong but they lack the knowledge to articulate it. “My people are destroyed for their lack of knowledge.” Hosea 4:6.

Read the Declaration of Resolves, they explain what the Declaration of Independance means. That in turn will tell you what they were talking about during the Debates of the Constitution (Elliots Debates of the Constitution) finally the Federalist Papers have been used over 1500 times to interpret the Constitution. As Jesus told us to study the scriptures to show ourselves approved, then should we not study also the Law of the Land. (Remember when Jesus said this there was no “New Testament”.)

So maybe the Islamic people could be an ally if we were to see that they, not the fundamentalists who pervert the Quran, the real fathful followers of Allah are a peace loving people. I know I have been to the Mosques to pray with men who called me brother and were not offended that I was Christian. Then again I am Christian and not a Roman in disguise. I read and study the teachings of Jesus not listening to Roman indoctronated ministers that swallow the Roman poison to spew it out again, mostly in their ignorance. Like Jesus I would braid a whip and drive the Money Changers out, following his example of course. Time we learned the truth and freed ourselves. “Greater things will you do than I”, Jesus said. Time we get about it. After all we should not let a crisis go to waste. Oh yeah, Obama’s birth certificate is heard in the Supreme Court on the 15th. Its been under wraps and kept quiet of course. He just got a default entered against him on the same subject in California on the sape subject. Time we pray for him. Try Pslams, Chapter 109. I think he is quite deserving
