It’s a rather timely event for Marylanders since we in Washington County have just witnessed first hand the complete ‘in your face’ dismissal of our elected Sheriff when the state and the feds joined forces and cut our elected Sheriff out of the investigation that ultimately led up to the botched Sharpsburg SWAT.
Here is the announcement from the Institute on the Constitution for its January meeting (hat tip: Dr. Belcher):
January’s First Friday Speaker
Sheriff Richard Mack
on State Sovereignty
Most sheriffs believe this until they are faced with the need to apply these principles of protection against federal or state encroachment. Yet the sheriff has ultimate authority and law enforcement power within his jurisdiction. He is to protect and defend his citizens from all enemies, both “foreign and domestic.”
Richard Mack is a man who many know as a man of integrity and a person dedicated to God, his family and our country. He is an outspoken, principled and honest person with a refreshing straightforward style. He is no sunshine patriot—rather a bold, tireless crusader and defender of the Bill of Rights, and individual and state sovereignty.
The mission of the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association is to serve and support sheriffs while they fulfill their oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Sheriff Mack shows us that the sheriff’s fulfillment of his oath is the most effective solution for halting the federal government’s invasion into our communities and our very lives.
Sheriff Mack is the only person in American history to receive the highest honors for public officials from the Second Amendment Foundation, Gun Owners of America and the NRA combined. Numerous Tea Party groups have named him “America’s Sheriff.” And most recently he was named one of the top ten conservatives running for Congress in the Texas 2012 primary election. He has been a regular guest on Judge Napolitano’s Freedom Watch and has been interviewed on CNN, Nightline, and Good Morning America, and has been a guest on over 500 radio talk shows worldwide.
We begin promptly at 7:00 pm.
