It’s been all over the news today: Ed Feulner, who has been president of the Heritage Foundation for 35 years, is retiring in a few months and Sen. Jim DeMint will take his place. Since Heritage is a client of mine, I’ve been following the news with interest. Jim DeMint is my favorite member of Congress. The PAC he founded, the Senate Conservative Fund, is the organization that financed Marco Rubio and others in the early stages of their campaigns. Sen. DeMint is bold, knowledgeable, and courageous and I am thrilled with his selection. Ed Feulner is a hard act to follow, but if anyone can do it it’s Jim DeMint.
I caught Ed Feulner and Jim DeMint on Rush Limbaugh’s show today. DeMint said this:
“As conservatives we have not taken enough control of our message and our ideas and communicated them to the American people.”
That will be one of his main goals as president of Heritage. He will have a lot of resources at his disposal. And before he was elected to Congress he had a marketing and communications company. Let’s hope he uses his resources and experience creatively and effectively to get out messages that will reach outside the echo chamber and start making some converts.
