We still have troops all over the world and some in very dangerous places!
We boost their spirits with boxes from home during the Christmas season!
For the last ten years the South Washington County Military Support Group has been sending boxes of holiday cards and goodies to the troops. This year the tradition continues. But time is short!
The boxes are all packed on Thanksgiving weekend and shipped on the following Monday!
We need help! Here is what you can do (in no particular order!):
~Send a check for postage (each year the bill for that runs around $7000!) Make check payable to SWCMSG and mail c/o Lynn Jones to P.O. Box 223, Keedysville, MD 21756
~Send holiday greeting cards (no envelopes) signed by your friends and family to that same address. Add a few inspirational words!
~Buy raffle tickets for the beautiful hand stitched queen-size quilt we are raffling off (the drawing will be on November 25th). Tickets are $5 each and you can get some from me or send a check and a request to that address above. Be sure to make check payable to SWCMSG and specify you want a certain number of raffle tickets.
~Do you have a service member abroad in some hot spot? If so, send the address of that service member to the address above. But, do that ASAP. And, the military member must be already deployed in his/her location abroad.
~If you have time and live near Boonsboro, MD. We need your help sorting and counting the cards this Thursday evening (11/15) from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 121 N. Main Street, Boonsboro.
~If you would like to gather goodies, I have a whole list of snack foods (they really enjoy beef jerky), toiletries and other stuff (too much to list here). You would have to get the goodies to me or to St. James Thursday evening or early Saturday morning, the 24th.
Questions? Or, for a list of items, please e-mail me at Ann@vigilantfreedom.com. Or, you may call Lynn Jones at 301-432-4979.
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing this, Ann. I’ll send a check to Lynn. 🙂
