Choose A, B, C, D or E (choose one or as many as apply). Some hints will follow!
A. Grover Norquist is an actor
B. Norquist is a practicing Muslim
C. Grover Norquist is a Tea Partier
D. None of the above
E. All of the above
I’m not going to choose—this is for you! After the mainstream media figures out who or what Barack Obama is, maybe they could move-on and find out what makes Americans for Tax Reform’s Grover Norquist tick. (Don’t hold your breath!)
Here are three stories from just the last few days in which someone, somewhere is weighing in on the real Grover Norquist.
A. Norquist has a bit part in Atlas Shrugged Part II and here is what one of the movie’s stars, Patrick Fabian, had to say:
Several libertarians and anti-tax crusader Grover Norquist appeared in small roles, which made for lively discussion on the set, Fabian said. And what did the professional actors think of Norquist’s performance?
Fabian put it this way: “I won’t come up with tax policy, and maybe he won’t be an actor.”
You know what is really funny about this. I would wager that one day we will find out that Norquist was one of the best actors of modern times.
B. Just this week ‘Right Wing Watch‘ reported that according to David Horowitz, Norquist is a practicing Muslim. By the way, check out Right Wing Watch from time to time so that you too can watch what the rightwing is doing according to the leftwing. It’s very amusing that RWW has used the name Alger Hiss in the same story as Grover Norquist.
But it is not just the Obama administration which has been penetrated by the Muslim Brotherhood, as Horowitz warned that “the Republican Party has also been infiltrated” thanks to conservative luminary Grover Norquist, whom he said is a “practicing Muslim.” Norquist is a reviled figure among anti-Muslim activists like Horowitz, who in 2011 lashed out at Norquist* from the podium at CPAC, mainly due to the fact his wife is a Muslim-American and he works with Muslim Republicans like Suhail Kahn.
Readers might want to revisit this post from 2011 in which we reported that Norquist said (at CPAC) that Shariah Law is compatible with the US Constitution. If you disagree with Grover you are an “Islamophobe.”
Here is how Momo begins:
YAKIMA, Wash., September 29, 2012 – We have a “Trojan horse” in our midst, and it’s destroying our system of government and our country. The formal name for this Trojan horse is Americans for Tax Reform; its leader is Grover Norquist. The more popular name for the group and its associates is the Tea Party. Sadly, the Tea Party movement seemingly has gained control of the Republican Party.
The Tea Party movement is a loose association of groups from all over America; it operates at both local and national levels. In 2010, The Washington Post found that 87 percent of the Tea Party members, while considering themselves Republicans, were dissatisfied with the Republican leadership.
Grover Norquist, a self-described lobbyist, is active in the Tea Party. Separating the two is almost impossible. While the Tea Party agenda is hard to pin down, we know it’s anti-government, anti-spending, anti-immigration, and anti-compromise.
There is too much from Momo for me to debunk, but in just the first three paragraphs:
—Norquist’s ATR might be a Trojan Horse, but it’s not for the Tea Party.
—The Tea Party has nothing to do with ATR.
—The Tea Party has not gained control of the Republican Party (wish that it were so!).
—Norquist is not active in the Tea Party. He did try to steer the grassroots Tea Partiers energy when the movement first got underway, but they aren’t going to be controlled by Washington insiders like Norquist.
—Norquist is not just a “self-described” lobbyist, he is a lobbyist!
—And, Norquist is pro-open borders so the “anti-immigrant” label does not apply. As a matter of fact, back in 2008 he was pushing the US government to bring as many Iraqi Muslims to the US as we could squeeze in. He also works with business groups to keep the cheap immigrant labor flowing our way.
D & E (none of the above, all of the above?) You decide!
For new readers: We have written dozens of posts on the multi-talented Grover Norquist (did you know he was a stand-up comedian too?), just search for his name here at PTPR for our complete archive.
