Romney picks Bob Ehrlich to run his campaign in Maryland

Well folks the fix is in.  This is all you need to know about Romney, and I am sorry to say we are being herded down the same path as in 2008 when the ruling class decided for us that John McCain was our best bet to beat Barack Obama.  And, we know how that turned out!  Former Governor Ehrlich was flirting with Gov. Perry for awhile as we reported, here, but must have gotten a better offer from the Romney camp.

From Governor Bob’s facebook page (hat tip Cecil Calvert):

Boston, MA – Mitt Romney today announced the support of former Maryland Governor Bob Ehrlich. Gov. Ehrlich will serve as Chairman of the Maryland campaign.

“I am proud to have the support of Bob Ehrlich,” said Mitt Romney. “As Governor of Maryland, he oversaw a drop in unemployment, balanced the budget, and said ‘no’ to tax increases. He understands that President Obama’s over-spending has failed to get voters in Maryland and across the country back to work. I am glad to have Bob’s help in my efforts to put our economy on path to recovery.”

“After studying all the candidates, it is clear that Republicans’ best chance for beating President Obama next November is Mitt Romney,” said former Governor Bob Ehrlich. “Mitt Romney is the only candidate with the necessary experience to turn around our failing economy. He has laid out a comprehensive economic plan that will restart the economy beginning day one. Republicans can’t afford to let President Obama have four more years to spend trillions of dollars, burden small businesses, and fail to create jobs.”

Here is the rest of the Maryland Republican establishment backing Romney so far (as reported on Romney’s campaign website):

  • State Senator Richard Colburn
  • State Senator Joe Getty
  • State Senator Allan Kittleman
  • Delegate Kathryn Afzali
  • Delegate John Cluster
  • Delegate Addie Eckardt
  • Delegate Donald Elliott
  • Delegate Michael Hough
  • Delegate Nic Kipke
  • Delegate Steven Schuh
  • Former United States Ambassador to New Zealand Robert Goodwin
  • National Committeeman Louis Pope
  • National Committeewoman Joyce Terhes
  • 2010 Republican Candidate for Lieutenant Governor and Former Secretary of State Mary Kane
  • Former Maryland Republican Party Chairman John Kane
  • Former Maryland Republican Party Chairman Audrey Scott
  • Former Maryland Republican Party First Vice Chair Chris Cavey
  • Former Maryland Republican Party First Vice Chair Chuck Gast
  • Maryland Republican Party Treasurer Christopher Rosenthal
  • Garrett County Republican Party Chairman Brenda Butcsher
  • Howard County Republican Party Chairman Loretta Shields
  • Montgomery County Republican Party Chairman Mark Uncapher
  • Frederick County Councilman Paul Smith
  • Howard County Councilman Greg Fox
  • State Central Committee Member – St. Mary’s County Mary Russell

Oh well.  At least now we know.

  1. I’m a little confused by Gov. Romney’s choice in Gov. Erlich. Erlich couldn’t beat O’malley, and thats the guy you want running your campaign?

The reality is that I have faith in the people. I do not believe that, we the people, are going to let the press pick our candidate for us this time around. I could, of course, be wrong, I’ve been wrong before, but that was before the people awakened and the TEA parties began. I have higher hopes for this election. I believe that the press and the liberals promoting Romney are going to be sooo wrong at election time that it will be laughable.

We’ll see how it all plays out.

  3. It’s a free country with free speech. John McCain lost for many reasons none of which in my opinion would be a ruling class. Yes there is a media bias in general against conservative views and a focus on those conservative views outside mainstream thinking. Republicans need to be more tolerant of each others views. Abortion is an example. Mainstream is tolerant of those that see little wrong with abortion yet the religious leaning of many Republicans disallows their support of anyone that shares this view. Just one example. We need to chill a little and talk about the many good things that each candidate has to offer. And there are many. Look at how a candidate will do against Obama and then cast your vote. Just watch the debates and you will get a good feel for each of them. There will be no perfect Republican or tea party candidate. Just like there can be no perfect author.
