WSJ columnist on Obama: Stupid is as stupid does

Yesterday, Bret Stephens penned this daring piece in the Wall Street Journal in which he questions Obama’s supposed highly powerful brain.   Judging by the number of comments—2141 as I signed on just now—the column has worldwide appeal.  Hat tip: Cathy.

Here is one section I particularly liked because the highlighted portion sounds (LOL!) like me!  I prefer Stephens’ opinion on the matter.

How many times have we heard it said that Mr. Obama is the smartest president ever? Even when he’s criticized, his failures are usually chalked up to his supposed brilliance. Liberals say he’s too cerebral for the Beltway rough-and-tumble; conservatives often seem to think his blunders, foreign and domestic, are all part of a cunning scheme to turn the U.S. into a combination of Finland, Cuba and Saudi Arabia.

I don’t buy it. I just think the president isn’t very bright.

Read it all.

  1. Great article. Even better is Stephens article, “The Alphabet.” Check that one out.
Now, to the point: I have never considered Obama the intellectually gifted individual that the media has protrayed him as. One, intellectually gifted people do not need a teleprompter, Reagan never used one that I know of; two, intellectually gifted people can handle a teleprompter malfunction, it’s obvious to me that Obama struggles with that; three, when Bill Clinton got in trouble with his left wing views, he moved to the right, gave the Republicans their way, then grabbed the credit for everything the Republicans did which got him re-elected. He didn’t call in Jimmy Carter to learn how to save his sorry ass, as Obama did with Clinton. Remember, Obama beat Hillary Clinton in the primaries, I’m sure he spent some time on his knees grovelling to Bill Clinton to seek advice on how to save his presidency. Clinton’s advice was, undoubtedly, do what I did. Abandon the left, socialistic views and save your own ass. This is where the Republicans failed us. The Republicans had him right where they wanted him, and caved. How so? Consider this: Our grandchildren are already so far in debt that they will probably never get out. Our Government’s solution: borrow even more money. Yea, that will make things better. Lets do some math here. We raised the debt limit 2 trillion, but, we put in 980 billion in spending cuts (Yee Haw.) We did not get a balanced budget amendment, only the promise that we would take that up later; want to bet?
We also got the super commission, who’s objective is to come up with another 1.2 trillion in cuts, which the House and Senate will never agree on (in my opinion.) Then, supposedly, an automatic cut will take place that cuts across the board, which includes the pentagon and our military (Thank you very much for making us a weaker nation.)
But, back to my point, Obama is no genius, and at the same time, the Republicans are failing us big time.
I noticed that not one single member of the “super commission” is a TEA Party electee. The committee being chosen by John Boehner, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi, who hasn’t committed yet.
The reality is this: we obviously can not rely on the Democrats, and we, obviously, can’t rely on the Republicans, we are going to have to do it ourselves. We need to oust the “business as usual” crowd, and fill both the House and the Senate with “we the people.”
