Tea Party Time! Annapolis tomorrow!

Update February 23rd: Here is how our counter-demo went yesterday!

Update 2: Note in this Wall Street Journal photo, Baltimore unions were represented in Madison!

Update: In addition to turning out to show support for Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin, those of you attending tomorrow can also show your support for Del. Pat McDonough et al and their bill (HB380) which would require proof of lawful presence in order to receive public benefits.  Hearing is at 1 p.m. here (scroll down to House Appropriations).

Action in SOLIDARITY WITH GOVERNOR SCOTT WALKER OF WISCONSIN!

It’s short notice but it’s vitally important that Maryland Tea Party activists GET TO ANNAPOLIS TOMORROW—February 22nd.  If you have been glued to the tube, as I have been, watching Wisconsin, you know how important it is to get out in front of the problem in Maryland.

The word is spreading like wildfire! Yesterday I reported that the SEIU was urging rallies across America to support Wisconsin unions and we must organize to counter them with A RALLY TO SUPPORT GOVERNOR WALKER AND THE TAXPAYERS!

Note that the Maryland Stop Union Busting Rally (PRO UNION RALLY) is being organized by AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees) one of the biggest unions in the country!  Here is the information on their Maryland rally.   Note that AFSCME has been having town hall meetings across the state to set this up.

CALL TO ARMS! From Michelle in Carroll County (who says it better than I can!):

There will be a public union rally in Annapolis tomorrow starting at noon and I will be there with a sign in hand supporting Wisconsin and demanding the same type of leadership here. Question is, will you?

[…..]

Not everyone can attend-most of us work and don’t have doctors handing out sick notes but if you can take the time off, please do so-this is an important pivital point in MD’s Tea Party history. We didn’t make the changes at the state level like we wanted but we did make in roads on the local levels across the state. Our folks who were elected on the local levels need better leadership in Annapolis, won’t get it but can hopefully gain confidence to continue to make the tough decisions by knowing we support them.

[…..]

We know how violent these union thugs can be and I don’t want any of us to get hurt or thrown in jail because of their behavior.

Just like we do for our rallies, please be sure to bring your video cameras, cell phones and still picture cameras so if anything happens, we can capture it on video.

Do not engage in any physical confrontations with these crazed folks-don’t give them the satisfaction. Laughing at them always makes them madder than they already are.

[…..]

Please don’t make excuses to not attend. If you can be there, be there. If we don’t make a decent showing, we can pretty much forget about the Tea Party and conservatives making any headway in Maryland and I for one refuse to accept that scenario.

Time: Try to get to Annapolis, Lawyer’s Mall, by 11:30 a.m.  We are winging this, so you may not be allowed into the Mall area, but they can’t remove us from public streets.  We will find each other!

Bring signs!  (no poles)

Parking: available here and ride the shuttle bus.

Weather: Keep an eye on the forecast but remember that, as Cathy just reminded me, the weather was much worse when Washington crossed the Delaware!

Look for more updates this afternoon…..
