Perez and Kane, too close for comfort?

Update July 5th: There is more, here!

Maryland readers know that one of the Republican contenders for governor of Maryland this week picked Mary Kane, a Montgomery County lawyer, as his running mate.   Bob Ehrlich, the darling of the Republican elite in the state, said seemingly innocuously of Kane in a press release to supporters:

Mary is a working mother, a small business advocate, and an accomplished attorney. As the daughter of immigrants from Ireland, she gained a unique understanding of the American Dream and the sacrifices families make every day to afford their children a brighter future. As Lt. Governor, Mary will work tirelessly to ensure every family in Maryland is afforded unlimited opportunity to pursue their dreams.

Are Ehrlich and Kane sending some sort of message to the families of illegal aliens as well?  Afterall, Mary is the daughter of immigrants, you know the American dream, blah, blah, blah. Now, I bet you are thinking that’s a stretch and a cheap shot from me.

But, it isn’t such a stretch when one knows that Mary’s husband John (former chairman of the Maryland Republican Party!), who runs a labor-intensive moving company (and is in some sort of legal trouble*), wrote this mind-blowing (chummy) letter to the US Senate Judiciary Committee endorsing the appointment of the former chairman of the Board of Casa de Maryland, Thomas Perez, to be head of the Civil Rights Division at the Justice Department.  Read the letter!

After you have read the letter, read about Perez and what he has been doing in his capacity at the Obama Justice Department:

Perez was a Clinton appointment too, here.

Obama’s Top Civil Rights Prosecutor Misrepresents Hate Crimes Statistics, here (scroll down to third story).

Perez steps up prosecution of hate crimes and police misconduct (among other things), here.  He is going after the Arizona law!

There is a lot more, those are just three articles I found in a few minutes!

What does all that tell you about where Governor Bob will be on illegal immigration?

Are supporters of Ehrlich and Kane falling for some line about how they have to lay low on one of the hottest issues in the state (and Nation!), illegal immigration, just to get through the election season and then somehow they, Ehrlich and Kane, will magically transform and get tough on illegals once in office?  If you believe that, well you know about that bridge for sale!

* The Washington Business Journal says:

The Kane Co. is being sued in the U.S. District Court for D.C. for double billing the federal government, double charging for energy surcharges, submitting false invoices and deliberately misleading the government by providing “defective pricing information.” The lawsuit claims that Kane defrauded numerous federal agencies — and the District, though D.C. is not part of the lawsuit.

Update: No sooner did I post this article then I received this one .   The Democrats have already pounced on the Kane family legal entanglement.  What was that we heard—only Ehrlich could beat O’Malley!
