CAIR, if you don’t know is the Council on American Islamic Relations—busy boys on the bigot hunt these days!
And, CAIR’s Maryland mouthpiece, Saqib Ali, is right in the thick of it again. (Please visit this post from last November in which I described Ali’s involvement with CAIR).
Readers may recall that Ali lead the clamor and the demonstrations in CAIRs attempt to kill two Maryland meetings this past fall where discussions about Shariah law and its threat to America were to be held. He failed to silence the speakers here and here at the MD CAN conference* in Annapolis (note that CAIR and Ali work hand-in-glove with CASA de Maryland).
His attempt to silence free speech in Annapolis went so far as to initially concern the management at the conference venue (the DoubleTree Hotel) which received phone calls described as threatening. The hotel management, however, stood firm (they should be commended by all) and invited a police presence to protect our first amendment right.
Now here he goes again with his name calling. I think these hard Leftists go through some training program where they are taught to shout “bigot,” “racist”, “homophobe” and we are supposed to curl up in a fetal position and whine for mercy. The way to stop it is for all of us to say—call me whatever you like! It won’t stop me from saying what I believe. Unfortunately, our big strong US Military Academy at West Point has curled into a fetal position already.
Saqib Ali on Facebook this week:
Extremist bigot Boykin gets bounced from West Point speech….
Ocean City mayor Rick Meehan should have taken a lesson.
So, what is this all about?
Retired Lt. General William Boykin is a strong voice urging us to understand the underlying teachings of Islam that advocate for Islamic political supremacism across the globe. This week, our military caved to CAIR pressure and must have urged Boykin to withdraw from speaking to the cadets at an upcoming prayer breakfast. Diana West has a good post here (read it all!) explaining the background. This is how she describes what happened:
After accepting an invitation to speak at West Point’s National Prayer Breakfast on February 8, General Boykin has withdrawn from the event following what the New York Times calls “a growing list of liberal veterans’ groups, civil liberties advocates and Muslim organizations called on the Military Academy to rescind the invitation.” West Point issued a statement saying, “In fulfilling its commitment to the community, the United States Military Academy will feature another speaker for the event.”
Frank Gaffney writing at the Center for Security Policy has more, here (emphasis mine):
According to the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), there is a grave threat to America that must be suppressed at all costs. The threat is that Lieutenant General William “Jerry” Boykin might be allowed to exercise his constitutionally guaranteed right to free speech.
This proposition is bizarre on multiple levels. For one, General Boykin, who is a friend and greatly admired colleague of mine, is one of the United States’ most accomplished and decorated military heroes. He served in and led our most elite special forces units for decades, including in many of our most dangerous recent combat operations. He also held a number of senior positions in the intelligence community, including as the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence.
For another, Jerry Boykin is also an ordained minister. And the sorts of events CAIR has lately insisted he must not address include prayer sessions convened by the mayor of Ocean City, Maryland and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
What makes the suppression of General Boykin’s right to express himself – and, for that matter, to enjoy freedom of religion – all the more outrageous is the nature of the organization demanding that he be silenced. Four federal judges have affirmed that CAIR is associated with the Muslim Brotherhood and was spawned by one of its American affiliates – the Islamic Association for Palestine. Indeed, we know from wiretapped conversations at the time of its founding that CAIR was established by Muslim Brotherhood operatives as a political arm and fundraising mechanism for Hamas, a designated terrorist organization and the Brotherhood’s franchise in “Palestine.”
HURRAH! FOR MARYLAND
CAIR and cohorts succeeded with the US Military Academy, but failed to get Boykin booted from Ocean City prayer breakfast!
We learned that General Boykin’s speech in Ocean City went off without a hitch last week, here.
The ‘juicer’ (Maryland Juice) tell us how hard they (the Left in consort with CAIR) with petitions and such tried to kill Boykin’s invitation, here.
Note to Montgomery Countians—Ali has announced he is running for the Board of Education. See Maryland Juice post and Brad Botwin’s (Help Save Maryland) comments on the announcement.
* If you weren’t among the 200 in attendance at the Turning the Tides Conference, you can see the whole Shariah law panel presentation, here, at the MD CAN website. This is what Saqib Ali and CAIR did not want you to hear.
