…..and you thought we were broke!
Over a half million dollars in federal tax dollars (loaned to us from China) will be going to enhancing the scenery in Maryland.
From Political News.me:
WASHINGTON — U.S. Senators Barbara A. Mikulski and Ben Cardin (both D-Md.) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has awarded several grants to the Maryland Department of Transportation to help preserve and enhance three historic scenic byways in the state under the National Scenic Byways Program.
“I’m proud of this federal-state partnership to protect Maryland’s heritage and promote our tourism economy. These grants will help commuters and visitors enjoy the state’s terrific combination of natural beauty and American history,” Senator Mikulski said. “Marylanders can count on me to continue to work in the Senate to keep our roadways and culture a priority in the federal [China's] checkbook.”
Yup! You can count on Babs and Ben in there groveling (oink! oink!) for the federal bucks! But, this isn’t about beautiful scenery, this is about land use control from the federal level. It comes with strings and special deals for insiders [read developers and political donors].
