Upon launching PTPR I had hoped to cover Tea Party news in the quad-state region (PA, WV, VA, and MD) in order to give ideas to other Tea Party groups about strategies, but soon found myself wrapped up in Maryland issues. Here then is some news from Montgomery County Pennsylvania about the Blue Bell Tea Party Patriots (an affiliate of the very active Philadelphia Tea Party Patriots) holding a candidate forum.
From a Patch publication:
The Blue Bell Tea Party Patriots held a School Board Candidate Forum on Wednesday night to a crowd of more than 100 taxpayers. Six of the seven candidates were present for the forum, with Seth Grant, current Board member who is seeking a third term on the School Board, absent.
Each candidate provided their resume to the Blue Bell Tea Party Patriots with the background and qualifications for School Board.
The Patch goes on to publish candidates’ answers to questions posed by the Tea Party.
This is the sort of thing your local groups should be undertaking. Very often local established political party groups have become too moribund to do this important work, or they are unwilling to ask hard questions!
The Blue Bell Tea Party Patriots recently set its goals, see this March letter.
Tea Parties might not make the nightly news but they are busy doing important work like this!
