The Teach-in is back in style. If you are old enough to remember the days of Bill Ayers and his SDS friends in the ’60′s and early ’70′s, you will remember the “teach-in.” You may also remember that teach-ins often ended in violence, but hey, ‘retro’ is so cool, right kids!
Tomorrow, Unions, and we might just as well say it, Communists, are planning teach-ins across America to claim that unions and union workers (like teachers) aren’t getting enough stuff—you know goodies from your paycheck. It’s not quite like Vietnam, but these old hippies like Francis Fox Piven (and Ayers) are trying to recreate their heyday before they die. Piven has been looking longingly at France and the UK where thousands of violent protesters have taken to the streets. This is their one last chance, while Obama is still President, to bring down capitalism and bring on the revolution, and they don’t want to miss it!
FIGHT BACK USA
That’s what they are calling the teach-in to persuade your college students that mean and greedy rich people (like their parents) are what is wrong with America.
Here is their teach-in line-up from New York—in addition to Cornell West and Piven (one half of the Cloward-Piven strategy* because Cloward is already dead), your kids will get to hear union boss Richard Trumka, who lives in a nearly million dollar house in one of the richest towns in America, stir them to anger over the poor and downtrodden school teacher.
By the way, Trumka is old enough to have been a hippie, but who knows if he played any role in disrupting college campuses back in the day.
According to the Fight Back USA website, your kids can get revved up by the Commies and then see how they might “escalate” their own action:
Please join us in organizing this event and building a progressive social movement to fight the destructive power of corporate greed. College campuses around the country will be linked to the New York City teach-in via the Internet. Anyone with a connection can participate. After the web cast, each campus will have its own discussion of how students can join with unions and community organizations to escalate their own local campaigns. [they really like that word 'escalate,' it's all over their website---ed]
Locally, escalation will be planned (here) at the University of Maryland, College Park and a branch of the U. of MD in Baltimore as well as Morgan State University. Cool!
