Listen to this radio interview former Governor Bob Ehrlich gave to Ron Smith and Blair Lee at WBAL yesterday. He sounds like one angry dude and it’s pretty clear he is not going to reach out to the 60,000 plus voters who liked Brian Murphy. Check out too how he disses Sarah Palin again. Just a reminder, here is what he said about her in the New York Times a few weeks ago.
Update: A few minutes after listening to this, I saw what John Wagner said about this radio program at the Washington Post (be sure to read the comments!). It’s ironic that now that Murphy has lost, the liberal media establishment sees fit to write about him and the problems we had with the Ehrlich campaign/MD GOP. I fault these same reporters for a virtual media black out of the Murphy campaign when it mattered most.
No the liberal media and liberal Maryland establishment is doing this by plan and design.
Just look at the ad’s and rhetoric they’ve put out.
They know that if they can exploit any tension in the party and drive votes away from Bob they have a better chance to win.
Save the party fighting til after the election. Don’t buy into the vitriol the left is intentionally putting out there by helping to stoke/manufacture division.
Don’t buy in…that’s what they want. Alienating as many people away from the strongest candidate. O’malley is vulnerable and they know it.

Baltocentric, I understand that completely, but Bob Ehrlich is the person uttering those words on that radio show—so tell it to Bob!
Ehrlich could have been a decent person and welcomed the challenge from Brian Murphy, shook hands, said lets debate the issues in a fair way…but he didn’t. He and Audrey Scott are now to blame for whatever happens. And, it’s clear to me that he isn’t even smart enough to be pleasant toward Murphy and Palin (and 60,000 plus voters) now. So, maybe he isn’t smart enough and diplomatic enough to be governor!
Incidentally, across the country Tea Partiers aren’t buying the argument anymore that only candidates who are wheeler-dealers and centrists can win.

Yes things should of and could be been different.
The argument is if we want type of chance of say in Annapolis or to stop another massive tax hike like 2007 by O’Malley et. al. the time for party arguments is not now.
If we want representation in Congress/Annapolis, redistricting happens in the coming year -do you not think the left wants more than they have now? We need all the help we can get!
Hurt feelings, egos, and anger has to be put on the back burner for now.
“Incidentally, across the country Tea Partiers aren’t buying the argument anymore that only candidates who are wheeler-dealers and centrists can win.” –
I agree, but you can only play the cards that you have in your hand. Bob is the only potential winning hand. Brian had his shot, lost, and now he should stick around for the long haul and be around for Maryland’s future. I hope he does.

Hi again, wish I had more time to respond this morning, but I don’t…just one quick question. What guarantee do you have that Bob Ehrlich will not raise taxes or fees since he refused to sign the no-new-taxes pledge?

“I entered the race because I am a fiscal conservative, and Marylanders cannot afford higher taxes or fees. Bob Ehrlich has pledged not to raise either, and so he has my full support in the General Election against Martin O’Malley.” – Brian Murphy
A pledge whether written or verbal can be broken. I see no sense in one is better than the other. They are both public record and carry the same penalties if broken.
I vote for the best chance to get a seat at the table and then work to keep it while making sure I get my bread (promises).
Either we work for a seat at the table or we get our measly crumbs as usual.
Either way Bob would need our support to get things done for a change. This is our last opportunity to do so or we’re very much left hung out to dry and done well past our times.

Personally, I vote for the candidate who EARNS my vote. Bob has done nothing to earn my vote, so he won’t get it.
I believe that Ehrlich’s loss to O’Malley is a short term loss for a long term gain…a weakened and discredited MDGOP leadership which needs to go.
Crumbs are what we’ll get no matter which poor leader wins, because it’s all that we’ve gotten from them in the past.
NOW IS the best time to discuss party politics because NOW IS the time when conservatives can wield power and show the moderates that we won’t settle.
Conservatives need to show their backbone and not cave to the lame argument that Ehrlich is better than O’Malley because he isn’t enough better to make it matter.
If conservatives are ever going to have any influence or be taken seriously in this state then we need to be able to make the hard choices and let Ehrlich play that hand that HE dealt.
