Update: Yikes, No sooner had I posted this (below), when I saw this: Palin exposes idiots like Bob Ehrlich (not my choice of words).
I promise that starting tomorrow I’m going to have a self-imposed moratorium here at PTPR on the Murphy for MD Governor race. I promise to write about other happenings in the quad state region besides this campaign—for at least two days!
But, in the meantime, Richard Falknor at Blue Ridge Forum was right to raise the question, “Does Ehrlich really want to run against Palin?” last week. Not only does Ehrlich appear to be running against Palin but now he has obviously endeared himself to the New York Times! Let me repeat that —-The Leftists at the New York Times obviously love what Bob Ehrlich is saying about Palin!
From the New York Times blog (The Caucus) yesterday, listen to Ehrlich shoot himself in the foot (again)! Does he not get it that he has a primary opponent, a conservative one! in Brian Murphy? Does he think that bashing Palin in the NewYork Times will endear him to primary voters in the RED counties in Maryland? Does Bob know that we have more than ten buses filled with passionate conservatives going from Washington County, MD alone to see and hear Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin in Washington, DC on August 28th?
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin last week waded into another Republican primary — this time in Maryland, where she endorsed Brian Murphy, a businessman and little-known conservative challenging former Gov. Robert Ehrlich Jr. for the party’s gubernatorial nomination.
In an interview on Friday, Mr. Ehrlich made clear that he’s not particularly impressed with Ms. Palin, either.
The ex-governor specifically disputed the suggestion that Ms. Palin is a Republican “superstar,” and questioned her ability to compete for the 2012 presidential nomination if she chooses to seek it.
“She clearly has a following, but on the list of proposed Republican nominees next cycle, she certainly is not on the top,” Mr. Ehrlich said in Annapolis. “She was only a governor for a year. I certainly would have liked to seen her finish her governorship. My personal issue with her goes more towards the fact she quit.”
[.....]
….Ehrlich added, “in the debates, I obviously don’t think she did as well.”
Be sure to read the comments from the Palin haters who congregate at the New York Times. But notice that the Palin supporters, from as far away as Singapore, are right in there duking it out with the mean-spirited new friends of Bob Ehrlich.
One final thing: Here is a column by a guy name Barry Rascover, an Annapolis insider, also taking whacks at Palin. We will save this for future reference.
Bob Ehrlich should have just kept his mouth shut about the whole endorsement, if he was just going to criticize to what basically amounts to being “the enemy”! There isn’t a liberal, mainstream news outlet out there that isn’t “foaming at the mouth” to catch anybody, let alone a fellow Republican, saying something negative about Sarah Palin. By this, he is distancing himself even further from the conservatives in the Republican party, whom he needs to get elected against a Democrat in the Nov. elections, if he gets that far…..hopefully, he doesn’t!
